On 11 April 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
During the meeting, issues on the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, the continuation of jointly implemented projects, and prospects for future cooperation were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted the important role of existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue. The importance of Azerbaijan’s contribution to intercultural dialogue within the framework of the Baku Process and through other international initiatives was emphasized.
The Minister also informed the other side about the regional situation in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan’s peace efforts and the peace process with Armenia, as well as the existing obstacles.
High Representative Miguel Ángel Moratinos highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s active and consistent policy carried out at the international level in the field of intercultural dialogue. He emphasized the importance of continuing successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and expressed his support for the continuation of joint initiatives in the future.
The sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest, including the promotion of intercultural solidarity in the face of global challenges and opportunities for joint action in combating Islamophobia.
