On 1 April 2024, on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, an iftar event was organized with the participation of ambassadors of Muslim countries accredited in our country.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, delivered a speech at the event.
Congratulating on the upcoming holy Ramadan holiday, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov extended his sincere wishes of peace, prosperity and well-being to the entire Islamic world during this blessed month.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the holy month of Ramadan, embodying discipline, mutual understanding and support, brings the Muslim world closer together, and emphasized that these high values of Islam are an integral part of our national heritage.
It was noted with satisfaction that representatives of different religions live in peace and harmony in Azerbaijan, and that there is no discrimination on any grounds.
During these days of the holy month of Ramadan, attention was drawn to a number of challenges faced by the Islamic world, including the rise of Islamophobia and increasing cases of discrimination against Muslims. It was noted that such threats have become part of national policies in some countries, and serious concern was expressed in this regard.
At the same time, it was stated that conflicts occurring in various parts of the world, particularly the renewed escalation of the Israel-Palestine conflict and the humanitarian situation in the Gaza region, are a matter of serious concern, and the importance of achieving a ceasefire as soon as possible was emphasized. The importance of demonstrating unity and solidarity in joint efforts to address existing challenges, as well as in promoting the peaceful resolution of conflicts in accordance with the norms of international law, was highlighted.
Referring to the significance of the liberation of Azerbaijan’s territories after nearly 30 years of conflict and the restoration of sovereignty over all its territories for our country and the region, the Minister noted that the end of military occupation, achieved through the glorious victory of the Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander, also put an end to the destruction of religious monuments belonging to Islam.
At the event, the cherished memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our territorial integrity was honored.
Later, the Dean of the diplomatic corps in our country, Ambassador of Palestine to Azerbaijan, Nasir Abdul Karim Abdul Rahim, extended his wishes of peace, well-being and progress to the entire Islamic world on the occasion of Ramadan, and expressed hope that all prayers would be accepted.
Following the recitation of the iftar prayer by Imam Gurban Aliyev, representative of the Caucasus Muslims Board, an iftar table was served for the participants.
