No:116/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Francesco La Camera

On 14 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Francesco La Camera, who is on a visit to our country.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on ongoing and planned projects related to the production and export of renewable energy, as well as on the development of green energy technologies, and issues of cooperation between our country and the Agency within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in our country this year, were discussed.
At the meeting, detailed information was provided on the projects implemented in our territories liberated from occupation in accordance with the “Green Energy Zone” concept. At the same time, it was emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Partnership in the field of energy between Azerbaijan and the European Union, as well as the Black Sea submarine cable project, which will ensure the export of electricity from Azerbaijan to Europe, will create additional opportunities for cooperation in the field of alternative energy.
The Director-General of IRENA Francesco La Camera expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization he represents and brought to attention that the institution he represents is ready to support the utilization of existing opportunities.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
