On 14 March 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georg Georgiev.
The tête-à-tête meeting between the sides was later continued in an expanded format with the participation of delegations from both sides.
During the expanded meeting, various aspects of the Azerbaijan–Bulgaria strategic partnership, including economic, trade, energy security, green energy, humanitarian, cultural and other areas, future plans, as well as regional and international security issues were discussed.
The importance of the existing political dialogue in the development of the strategic partnership relations between our countries was emphasized. The existence of opportunities for cooperation in the fields of economy and trade was underlined, and the role of the Joint Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Bulgaria in this regard was noted.
It was brought to attention that joint initiatives implemented in the field of energy play an important role in ensuring Europe’s energy security, and it was stated that there are broad prospects for further expanding cooperation in this direction, especially for the implementation of new projects in the field of green energy.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the other side about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, efforts to combat the mine threat, as well as the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process.
Despite the agreement on the text of the peace treaty, it was emphasized that the most important factor is the elimination of territorial claims against our country in the Constitution and other legislative acts of the Armenian side, as well as the formal dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and related structures.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
