No:111/24, Press release on the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic Alexandra Papadopoulou

On 13 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic Alexandra Papadopoulou, who is on a visit to our country.
During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and Greece in bilateral and multilateral platforms, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process and regional issues.
It was brought to attention that the increasing contacts between the leaders of the two countries, as well as the political consultations held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, are important in terms of discussing the prospects for the development of relations. The sides noted the importance of developing relations in political, economic, trade, energy, agriculture, tourism, humanitarian and other fields, and expanding cooperation in line with the interests of our peoples.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov recalled with satisfaction the meeting conducted in December last year with his counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, and emphasized the necessity of intensifying the work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation in Economic, Industrial and Technological Fields between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Hellenic Republic, along with political contacts.
The sides also reaffirmed the importance of cooperation in the field of energy between the two countries and brought to attention the exceptional importance of the Southern Gas Corridor, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, as well as the Greece-Bulgaria Gas Interconnector. In this regard, confidence was expressed that successful cooperation in the field of energy between the two countries will contribute to the development and stability of the region and will also cover other areas of mutual interest.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information to the other side on the new realities formed in the region in the post-conflict period, the factors that necessitated the anti-terror measures, the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the peace agreement agenda, and the steps taken in the direction of restoration and reconstruction works in the liberated territories.
At the meeting, views were also exchanged on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Within the framework of the Deputy Minister’s visit to our country, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs were held with the participation of the delegations headed by her and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fariz Rzayev. During the political consultations, issues of cooperation between the two countries in bilateral, regional and international organizations were discussed.
