On 12 March 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia, Timcho Mucunski.
During the meeting, the existing bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia, the development of political dialogue, and issues of expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, energy and tourism were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of further strengthening friendly and partnership relations between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia and brought to attention that mutual visits and high-level contacts contribute to the development of cooperation.
The importance of identifying new opportunities for the development of bilateral cooperation and expanding relations in the fields of trade and investment was noted.
The Ministers discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of energy between the two countries and noted Azerbaijan’s contribution to Europe’s energy security as an energy supplier and transit country. Within this framework, issues of expanding cooperation opportunities in the field of renewable energy and alternative energy sources were brought to attention.
During the meeting, potential opportunities for developing relations in the field of tourism were also assessed. The importance of implementing joint activities aimed at promoting the rich cultural heritage and tourism opportunities of our countries was emphasized.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his counterpart about the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, restoration and reconstruction works, mine threats, and the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and brought to attention our country’s efforts towards ensuring peace and security in the region.
The sides also reviewed opportunities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia within the framework of international organizations and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, the signing ceremony of the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia on the exemption of holders of diplomatic and service/official passports from visa requirements was held with the participation of both Ministers.
