No:098/26, Press release on the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire

On 5 March, the delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan paid a visit to the city of Abidjan of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was led by Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, while the SOCAR delegation was led by the President of the company Rovshan Najaf.
Within the framework of the visit, a one-on-one meeting was held between Y. Rafiyev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Diaspora of Côte d’Ivoire, Kaba Nialé.
During the meeting, it was noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Côte d’Ivoire are developing in the spirit of partnership, and that there are broad opportunities for the development of multilateral relations between our countries.
Subsequently, the first political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries held. The consultations, held under the leadership of the Deputy Ministers, were attended by the respective ambassadors and representatives of both countries.
During the political consultations, referring to effective and constructive relations within the framework of international platforms, the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation was emphasized.
In addition, a detailed exchange of views was held on the foreign policy priorities of our countries, as well as on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
At the meeting, it was noted that the developing political relations between our countries create a favorable basis for strengthening effective cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, digital technologies, agriculture, as well as humanitarian and cultural spheres.
During the visit, meetings of the President of SOCAR with the leadership of the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy of Côte d’Ivoire, as well as the General Directorate of Hydrocarbons of the Ministry, and also with the management of the national oil company of Côte d’Ivoire, PetroCI, were held. Prospects for cooperation in the energy sector between our countries, including the implementation of joint projects in the oil and gas sector, investment opportunities, and issues of energy security were discussed.
