On 2 March 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Maria Laura da Rocha, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
During the meeting, the cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Brazil, issues related to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), as well as the regional situation were discussed.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the upcoming round of political consultations between Azerbaijan and Brazil in the near future and noted the importance of further developing this mechanism to discuss existing prospects for cooperation.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided detailed information to his counterpart on the preparations undertaken by Azerbaijan in connection with COP29.
In particular, it was emphasized that there are broad opportunities to expand cooperation with Brazil within the framework of the COP Troika during Azerbaijan’s presidency of COP29 this year.
The other side was also informed about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
