No:093/26, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan

On 7 March 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan in Istanbul within the framework of the informal meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

 

During the meeting, the current security situation in the Middle East, the rising regional escalation, and its potential impact on regional stability were discussed.

 

The missile launch from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran targeting Türkiye and the drone attacks against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan were strongly condemned.

 

It was emphasized that such actions violate international law and its norms and principles, contribute to increased regional tension, and further complicate the security environment.

 

Gratitude was expressed for the statements of support for Azerbaijan made by the Turkish side, led by the President of the Republic of Türkiye, immediately after the aforementioned attacks. 

 

The temporary organization of flights between mainland Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan via Iğdır Airport to ensure aviation safety was highly appreciated by Azerbaijan.

 

The meeting also covered cooperation and coordination matters arising from Azerbaijan- Türkiye strategic partnership relations, as well as high-level visits and contacts.

 

Additionally, other regional and international issues of mutual interest were also discussed in the meeting.
