On March 6, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sudan, Muhi Al-Din Salem Ahmed, held a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the drone attacks carried out on March 5 by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, which caused damage to civilian infrastructure and persons, violate Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It was informed to the Sudanese side that clarification and explanation regarding the attack from Iran, an apology, and the adoption of urgent measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents were demanded by Azerbaijan.
The Sudanese Minister expressed concern over the attacks and stated that targeting civilian infrastructure is unacceptable.
The ministers also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
