On 1 March 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, delivered a speech at the panel discussion titled “Institutionalization in the Turkic World: The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in the 21st Century,” held within the framework of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that strengthening relations with the member states of the OTS in all areas is one of the main priorities of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, and, as noted by the Head of State during the recent historic inauguration ceremony, the Turkic world is our family.
It was noted that enhancing cooperation within the Turkic world, with which we are connected by historical and cultural traditions, across various fields including political, security, economic, investment and others, would contribute to strengthening resilience against ongoing challenges in the international system. In this regard, it was highlighted that the Turkic world encompasses a vast geography with nearly 200 million people, possesses significant economic potential, energy resources, and opportunities related to transport routes, and that it is essential to utilize this potential to further expand cooperation.
It was stated that at a time when challenges in the international relations system, particularly regarding the functioning of international organizations, are increasing, the importance of regional cooperation, including the OTS, is growing. In this context, it was emphasized that member states should demonstrate solidarity in strengthening cooperation and implementing joint projects without repeating past mistakes.
The panel discussion continued with a question-and-answer session.
