On March 5, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev, held a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the drone attacks carried out on March 5 by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure and harm to civilians, are in violation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He brought to the attention of the Kazakh side that Azerbaijan demands that the Islamic Republic of Iran clarify the incident, provide an explanation, issue an apology, and take the necessary urgent measures to prevent the recurrence of such cases.
The Minister of Kazakhstan expressed deep concern over these attacks and voiced hope that the situation would not escalate further.
