No:066/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gilani

On 18 February 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the delegation led by Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gilani, who is visiting our country within the framework of the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijan-Pakistan strategic partnership, the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, as well as the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, recalling with satisfaction his official visit to Pakistan last year and his meeting with Yousaf Raza Gilani within that framework, noted that intensive mutual contacts and visits contribute to the development of our strategic partnership.
It was brought to attention that there is potential for the development of Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations, based on friendship, brotherhood, mutual respect and support, at the bilateral as well as multilateral levels.
During the meeting, where opportunities for cooperation within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement and CICA were discussed, the continued mutual support by the two countries for each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty was noted with appreciation.
It was stated that strengthening ties between the legislative bodies and members of parliament of the two countries, as well as parliamentary diplomacy, contributes to relations between our peoples, which are close in historical and cultural terms.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the other side about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale reconstruction and restoration works carried out in the liberated territories, demining activities, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
