On 8 February 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Abdul Rahim Al-Maaiah, and the Assistant to the Chairman of the Jordanian Senate, Head of the Jordan–Azerbaijan Brotherhood Committee, Muflih Al-Rahimi.
During the meeting, bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Jordan, issues related to the observation of the Presidential elections, as well as regional developments were discussed.
It was noted that the high-level contacts between the leaders of the two countries, along with the increasing dynamics of mutual visits, have provided impetus to the further development of relations.
The significant role of parliamentary diplomacy in further advancing relations was particularly emphasized.
It was emphasized that over more than 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the beneficial bilateral cooperation between our countries in political, economic, trade, tourism, education and other fields, as well as the demonstration of mutual support based on friendship and solidarity within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement and other multilateral platforms, is commendable. The importance of the mechanism of political consultations and the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in terms of discussing prospects for the development of cooperation was noted.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the organizational measures carried out in relation to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in Azerbaijan this year, and expressed confidence that this highly significant event will create additional opportunities for the development of cooperation.
The counterpart conveyed congratulations regarding the successful organization and results of the extraordinary Presidential elections, and wished continued development and prosperity to Azerbaijan and people.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
