No:047/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Secretary General of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Dmitry Kobitsky

On 6 February 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Secretary General of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Dmitry Kobitsky.
During the meeting, the cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the CIS, as well as issues arising from the extraordinary Presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan, were discussed.
The importance of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly as a platform that creates conditions for establishing contacts among legislative bodies in the CIS space was emphasized.
It was affirmed that Azerbaijan attaches importance to the CIS as a dialogue platform that plays an important role in the development of cooperation among member states in the political, economic, cultural, scientific, humanitarian and other fields.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that on 7 February, for the first time after 30 years of occupation, extraordinary Presidential elections will be held in all territories of Azerbaijan, and that our citizens who were displaced from their lands will participate in the elections in our territories liberated from occupation. It was alsonoted that relevant measures have been taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the electoral rights of our citizens in foreign countries, and that relevant polling stations have been established at our diplomatic missions abroad.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
