No:046/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the delegation of the TURKPA Observation Mission led by Osman Mesten

On 6 February 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Head of the Observation Mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), Osman Mesten, and other members of the delegation.
During the meeting, issues of cooperation within the framework of TURKPA, as well as preparations for the extraordinary Presidential elections to be held on 7 February of the current year, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov underscored that TURKPA is an important platform for the development of existing brotherhood and friendship relations among Turkic states at the inter-parliamentary level, and emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in expanding cooperation among our states in the political, economic, social, cultural, humanitarian and other fields. It was noted that increasing contacts at various levels among Turkic states gives impetus to mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, providing the other side with detailed information on the preparatory work related to the extraordinary Presidential elections, including the measures taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that this electoral process, held for the first time after the restoration of sovereignty over all our territories, is of historical significance. It was mentioned that 26 polling stations have been established in the territories liberated from occupation.
The Head of the Mission, Osman Mesten, expressed satisfaction with observing the Presidential elections held for the first time after the victory achieved by brotherly Azerbaijan in the 44-day Patriotic War, as well as the restoration of its full sovereignty. Confidence was expressed that the results of the elections to be held will play an important role in the further development of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
