No:043/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Kubanychbek Omuraliev

On 6 February 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Kubanychbek Omuraliev, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan in connection with the observation of the extraordinary Presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, issues on the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the OTS, as well as preparations for the Presidential elections to be held in Azerbaijan, were discussed.

It was brought to attention that Azerbaijan actively works towards expanding cooperation within the OTS in various fields, including political, economic, trade, connectivity, cultural, humanitarian and other areas, as well as towards strengthening the Organization.

In this direction, it was stated that the increase in contacts among member states in recent times creates conditions for the effective use of existing cooperation opportunities.

Confidence was expressed that the high-level events to be held this year in Azerbaijan and in member states will contribute to the further strengthening of the Organization.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the extraordinary Presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which for the first time in our history of independence coincide with the period of full restoration of our territorial integrity and sovereignty, are of symbolic importance for Azerbaijan. Referring to the preparatory work carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the organization of the electoral process, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that the active participation of regional and international organizations, including the OTS, as observers in terms of monitoring the transparency of the process is commendable.

Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev expressed satisfaction that his next visit to Azerbaijan coincides with the period of the historic extraordinary Presidential elections organized, and expressed confidence that the results of the elections to be held will serve the development and prosperity of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
