On 14 February 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Johann David Wadephul, within the framework of the Munich Security Conference.

 

During the meeting, the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Germany, as well as regional security issues, were discussed.

 

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining political dialogue at a high level, the sides noted that mutual visits and meetings within international platforms make a significant contribution to deepening cooperation.

 

The importance of expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, energy security, agriculture, transport and logistics, as well as cultural and humanitarian areas, was underscored.

 

Attention was drawn to the contribution of strategic energy and transport projects implemented at the initiative and with the participation of Azerbaijan to Europe’s energy security and to ensuring sustainable development in the region. Prospects for cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources and joint projects in the direction of the “green transition,” as well as efforts across a broader region, including Central Asia, were reviewed.

 

Touching upon the importance of interaction within international organizations, satisfaction was expressed with the continuation of cooperation and support based on mutual trust and respect for each other’s legitimate interests on multilateral platforms.

 

The other side was informed about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the Armenia–Azerbaijan normalization process, and the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards ensuring de facto peace and initial cooperation in the region following the historic Washington Summit.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
