On 31 January 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to our country Birol Akgün.
During the meeting, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of Azerbaijan Birol Akgün presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Minister congratulated the newly appointed Ambassador of brotherly Türkiye and wished him success in his future activities.
During the meeting, issues arising from the Azerbaijan-Türkiye alliance, as well as regional and international security matters were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov brought to attention that the existing historical and traditional brotherhood and friendship between the states and peoples of Azerbaijan and Türkiye are of exceptional importance in strengthening our alliance, including our joint efforts at the regional and international levels.
It was stated that the historic Shusha Declaration, which establishes allied relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye, is the embodiment of our existing brotherhood and friendship ties. It was emphasized that, in accordance with the instructions of our leaders, it is important to continue efforts to further strengthen cooperation in the political, security, economic, trade, energy, transport, communications, cultural-humanitarian and other aspects of our multidimensional allied relations.
It was noted that the joint efforts of Azerbaijan and Türkiye in all international organizations, especially in the Organization of Turkic States, which is considered our common family organization, are commendable, and confidence was expressed that the summit to be held in Azerbaijan this year will serve to further strengthen the organization.
It was stated that efforts towards ensuring stability in the Middle East and Afghanistan, as well as advancing joint initiatives in Syria, are important.
The newly appointed Ambassador of Türkiye Birol Akgün expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and congratulations and brought to attention that he will spare no effort to further strengthen the existing allied relations during his tenure as Ambassador of Türkiye to Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
