No:023/26, Press release on the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi

On 28 January 2026, within the framework of his official visit to the People’s Republic of China, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi.
During the meeting, the current state and development prospects of bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and China, as well as regional and international issues, were discussed.
The ministers expressed satisfaction that political dialogue is conducted at a high level and noted that the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in 2025 contributed to elevating relations to a qualitatively new stage. The agreements signed during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to China in April last year were highlighted as providing additional impetus for cooperation in various areas.
It was also recalled with pleasure that in 2027, the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be celebrated.
The ministers emphasized the importance of further expanding cooperation based on mutual trust and respect in trade and economy, transport and logistics, energy, renewable energy, industry, digital transformation, agriculture, humanitarian, and education fields. Joint efforts on the Middle Corridor and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route were appreciated.
The meeting stressed the importance of continuing mutual support within international organizations, and an exchange of views was held on regional security issues. Cooperation within the UN, the Asia Confidence- and Security-Building Measures (CSBM) framework, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other multilateral formats was reviewed.
The parties also highlighted the role of strengthening people-to-people ties and expanding exchanges in education, culture, tourism, and youth in ensuring the sustainable development of bilateral relations.
Additionally, global and regional security issues, cooperation plans within the Central Asia format, post-conflict reconstruction, and the mine threat were discussed. The Chinese side was thanked for its support to ANAMA in demining activities.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
