No:511/22, Press release on summoning of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, Seyed Abbas Mousavi, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
On November 11, 2022, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan Seyed Abbas Mousavi was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, dissatisfaction, and concern in connection with propaganda, the slanderous campaign against Azerbaijan in the Iranian media recently, and the threatening rhetoric of high-ranking political and military representatives of Iran, which doesn't correspond to the spirit of relations between the two countries were brought to the attention of the other side.
The inadmissibility of creating conditions for the settlement of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Iran who have committed crimes against the foundations of the constitutional structure of Azerbaijan and were placed on the international wanted list by the decision of the court was once again emphasized, and the need to extradite criminals was noted.
It was stressed that sheltering those who incite separatism in the Republic of Azerbaijan and are hiding in other countries by avoiding criminal prosecution, in Iranian Embassies is an unfriendly step.
It was emphasized that the dissemination of such information and conducting activities against Azerbaijan in Iran are unacceptable, and it is expected to stop these as soon as possible.
