No:481/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Maka Botchorishvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia

On 5 December 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Maka Botchorishvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, within the framework of his participation in the 31st meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council.

 

At the meeting, various aspects of the existing strategic partnership and friendly relations between the two countries, as well as regional security issues were discussed.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov once again congratulated his colleague on her appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and wished her success during her activities.

 

The sides expressed satisfaction with the strategic partnership between our countries based on the norms and principles of international law, especially mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, and friendship.

 

Possible contributions of using the political consultations mechanism to the development of cooperation within the framework of regional and international platforms were noted.

 

The importance of developing the economic, treaty-legal, humanitarian and energy aspects of bilateral relations was noted, and the importance of joint strategic projects was stressed. The importance of the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Georgia was emphasized.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his colleague about the outcomes of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), chaired by our country and held in our region for the first time. It was noted that our country will continue its international efforts in the field of developing green energy at the national level hereafter, and that further developing joint cooperation with Georgia in this direction is important.

 

The other side was also informed in detail about regional restoration, construction and peace efforts in the post-conflict period, and the existence of Armenia’s territorial claims against neighboring states was emphasized as the greatest threat to building lasting peace in the region.

 

At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
