On 26 November 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, within the framework of his official visit to the Italian Republic, met with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Republic Lorenzo Fontana.
During the meeting, issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy, as well as the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, were discussed.
The sides noted the significant role of parliamentary diplomacy, along with high-level contacts, visits and dialogue, in the development of the existing multidimensional strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy.
The importance of parliamentary diplomacy as one of the main pillars of strategic partnership, as well as mutual visits of parliamentary speakers and representatives, was emphasized.
It was noted with appreciation that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in the fields of politics, economy, energy, trade, transport, communications and humanitarian affairs is successfully ongoing. Long-term cooperation in the energy sector, in particular Azerbaijan’s important role in ensuring Europe’s energy security, was especially highlighted. At the same time, it was emphasized that the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Italy University, which holds great importance in bilateral relations, has given an additional impetus to the strategic partnership.
During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side in detail about the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the outcomes of the historic Washington meeting, as well as large-scale reconstruction and restoration works carried out in the liberated territories.
An exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest was also included during the meeting.
