No:438/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin

On 25 November 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, within the framework of his official visit to the Vatican, met with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
During the meeting, the current agenda of bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Holy See, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, were discussed.
It was brought to attention that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of relations with the Holy See, noting that numerous high-level visits from Azerbaijan to the Holy See in recent times are a clear example of this.
In this context, it was emphasized that the visit of the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva to the Holy See in October of this year has contributed to further strengthening our relations based on mutual understanding and shared values. It was noted that the conservation and restoration projects implemented in the Holy See at the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva and with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation serve as a bridge for cooperation in the humanitarian field.
It was stated that the rights and security of all ethnic and religious communities living in Azerbaijan are ensured, and reference was made to our country’s centuries-old traditions of multiculturalism and tolerance.
The important role of religious beliefs in promoting universal human values and global solidarity was highlighted, and in this context, it was noted that further deepening interfaith dialogue, as well as promoting joint projects in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, contribute to strengthening relations of friendship and understanding in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side in detail about the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, the agreements reached during the historic Washington Summit and the practical steps taken for their implementation, as well as post-conflict developments in our region.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
