No:386/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

On 27 September 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, within the framework of the general debates of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

 

During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the further development of Azerbaijan–Saudi Arabia relations.

Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia within the framework of international organizations such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, based on mutual respect for each other’s legitimate interests, was noted with satisfaction, and gratitude was expressed to the other side for its continuous support for Azerbaijan’s rightful position.

 

Saudi Arabia’s activities in Azerbaijan’s renewable energy sector were highly appreciated, and it was stressed that Azerbaijan’s hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change this year may create additional opportunities for Azerbaijan–Saudi Arabia cooperation in the field of green energy.

 

Unanimity was expressed on the importance of realizing the potential of the Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission as a cooperation mechanism in order to obtain maximum benefit from existing development opportunities in the fields of economy, trade and investments between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia for the welfare of both countries.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.

 

Later, the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the mutual exemption from entry visas for persons holding diplomatic and special and service passports and visiting for a short term” was signed by the Ministers.
