No:385/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali

On 27 September 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali, within the framework of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

 

At the meeting, existing cooperation prospects for bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as issues arising from Azerbaijan’s Presidency of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), were discussed.

 

The existence of multilateral cooperation between our countries within the framework of international organizations, including the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement, was noted with satisfaction, and the importance of continuing such contacts and mutual visits, as well as using mechanisms such as political consultations between the two countries in terms of developing relations at the bilateral level, was emphasized.

 

The importance of expanding Azerbaijan’s relations with the African Union in the direction of continuing the impetus given by the Chairmanship of Azerbaijan of the Non-Aligned Movement to our relations with African countries, and the existence of a number of prospects in this direction, were noted.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side in detail about our COP29 Presidency activities and main priorities. It was stressed that our COP29 Presidency is particularly aimed at supporting the efforts of least developed, landlocked and small island countries in combating climate change and taking necessary measures related to their vulnerabilities, and it was noted that most of our Presidency initiatives are dedicated to this direction.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
