No:356/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Luis Gilberto Murillo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Colombia

On 23 September 2024, within the framework of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Luis Gilberto Murillo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Colombia.
At the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, touching upon the importance of developing cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian fields over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, emphasized the importance of high-level mutual visits, the political consultations mechanism, as well as the development of relations between relevant institutions in priority sectors.
The sides also touched upon prospects for developing cooperation within the framework of international organizations and emphasized that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by Azerbaijan this year, creates favorable opportunities for new areas of partnership, and that Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with Colombia in this framework.
The other side was informed about the new realities that emerged in the region after the restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out by the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories, as well as the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on new areas of cooperation and other topics of mutual interest.
