On 22 July 2025, within the framework of his official visit to Georgia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili.
The one-on-one meeting between the ministers was followed by an expanded meeting with the participation of delegations from both sides.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the current state and prospects of the Azerbaijan–Georgia friendship and strategic partnership.
The sides emphasized the contribution of high-level political dialogue, mutual visits, and political consultations to further deepening relations between the two countries.
The ministers discussed opportunities to further expand cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, trade, tourism, and education. The strategic importance of joint projects such as Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan, Baku–Tbilisi–Kars, and the Southern Gas Corridor, as well as initiatives and projects in green energy and digital communication, was noted. The positive contribution of the East–West Middle Corridor to cooperation between the countries and Central Asia was highlighted.
The development of economic and trade relations and the growing dynamics of trade turnover between the two countries were welcomed.
The importance of developing cooperation in the humanitarian field and promoting cultural exchanges was also emphasized.
The sides noted the importance of continuing cooperation based on mutual support between Azerbaijan and Georgia on international platforms, including within regional initiatives.
The ministers highlighted the importance of joint activities and coordinated efforts within trilateral and multilateral formats involving the two countries. It was noted that Azerbaijan’s high-level relations with Central Asian countries form the basis for Azerbaijan–Georgia–Central Asia regional partnership.
Developments in the region and beyond, including security issues of mutual interest, were also discussed during the meeting.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information to the other side on the large-scale reconstruction and development works carried out in the territories liberated by Azerbaijan, as well as on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Georgia’s contribution to the normalization process, including hosting a number of meetings since 2022, was recalled with satisfaction.
Despite significant progress in the peace process, it was noted that ongoing territorial claims against Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity enshrined in the Constitution of Armenia remain an obstacle to the signing of a final peace agreement.
