On 8–9 July 2025, an international roundtable dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the “World of Diplomacy” journal, the official publication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was held in the cities of Baku and Shusha.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs from 16 foreign countries, prominent think tank representatives, as well as editors and experts of journals specializing in international relations and diplomatic analysis.
The main objective of the roundtable was to exchange views and experiences regarding official publications of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of friendly and partner countries, as well as the importance of strategic analysis in the modern system of international relations.
In his opening remarks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, emphasized that over the past 20 years, the “World of Diplomacy” journal has served as an important platform reflecting Azerbaijan’s foreign policy priorities and its approach to international processes.
Highlighting the independent, pragmatic, and open foreign policy course pursued under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Minister drew attention to Azerbaijan’s growing international standing.
During his speech, the Minister provided detailed information on the new realities emerging in the South Caucasus in the post-conflict period, steps taken towards the normalization of Armenia–Azerbaijan relations, and the main issues hindering the signing of a peace agreement.
He also noted that large-scale reconstruction and restoration works are being carried out in the liberated territories within the framework of the “Great Return” program.
Jeyhun Bayramov particularly emphasized Azerbaijan’s active participation in international initiatives, highlighting the country’s hosting of COP29, its successful chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as its upcoming hosting of major events such as the 82nd session of UNESCAP, the 13th World Urban Forum, and World Environment Day.
Within the framework of the event, a visit to the city of Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, was organized for the participants. During the visit, guests were got acquainted on-site with the consequences of Armenia’s occupation policy, including destroyed infrastructure and historical and cultural monuments, as well as ongoing reconstruction efforts. Presentations on Shusha’s historical and cultural heritage were delivered, and the visit concluded with a cultural program.
The roundtable dedicated to the anniversary of the “World of Diplomacy” journal contributed to strengthening institutional partnerships among the participating countries.
