No:300/24, Press release on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On 25 July 2024, the next round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent.

 

The delegations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov.

 

During the political consultations, issues related to political, economic, transport, cultural, humanitarian and other areas of mutual interest between the countries were discussed, and an exchange of views was also conducted on cooperation within international and regional organizations.

 

It was particularly emphasized that the recent upward development of relations between the two brotherly countries, which share common historical roots, language, religion and traditions, is determined by the strong political will of the Heads of State and joint practical efforts.

 

Satisfaction was expressed with the level of strategic partnership relations based on the principles of mutual trust and respect, and it was noted that increasing contacts at the high and highest levels make a significant contribution to bilateral relations.

 

It was emphasized that the holding of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan is an indicator of the country’s growing international standing.

 

Within the framework of the political consultations, an exchange of views was also carried out on the contractual-legal framework and ongoing projects between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, and an inventory of the signed documents between the two countries was conducted.
