No:297/24, Press release on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation

On 23 July 2024, the next round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation was held in Moscow.
The delegations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov, and by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Galuzin.
An extensive exchange of views took place on the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-Russia bilateral cooperation, as well as on international and regional issues of mutual interest on the agenda.
During the meeting, it was emphasized with satisfaction that the high-level political dialogue between the leaders of the two countries, based on mutual trust and shaping the bilateral agenda, constitutes the foundation of allied interaction between the states.
During the political consultations, cooperation between the two countries in economic-trade, cultural-humanitarian fields, as well as within international and regional organizations and formats, and other issues were also discussed, and the bilateral legal framework and ongoing projects were reviewed.
On the same day, a meeting was also held between Deputy Minister Samir Sharifov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Grushko. During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on international and regional security issues, as well as cooperation within regional formats in which both countries participate.
In addition, during the meeting between S. Sharifov and the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation, Head of the Russian delegation in negotiations on Caspian Sea issues, Mikhail Petrakov, the current state and dynamics of cooperation on Caspian issues were discussed.
