No:279/25, Press release on the 50th anniversary meeting of the BSEC Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs held within the framework of the chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC)

On 27 June, within the framework of the chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC), the 50th anniversary meeting of the BSEC Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs was held in a videoconference format.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on the implementation of existing initiatives and new projects within BSEC across various fields, the outcomes of the activities of the Organization’s sectoral Working Groups, the development of BSEC–European Union relations, and the advancement of the Organization’s economic agenda.

 

In addition, taking into account the important role of cooperation with BSEC-related bodies, existing interaction with these entities was reviewed and future opportunities for strengthening current cooperation were discussed.

 

Statements were delivered by the heads of delegations of member states on the current state and development prospects of cooperation in the BSEC region, and relevant decisions, recommendations, and resolutions were adopted by the Council of Ministers.

 

In their remarks, member states and the BSEC Secretary General expressed their gratitude to Azerbaijan for actively, inclusively, and effectively coordinating and advancing the Organization’s activities over the past six months under the motto “Strengthening Connectivity, Promoting Development.” At the end of the meeting, the chairmanship of the Organization was handed over to Bulgaria for the next six-month period.

 

During its chairmanship, Azerbaijan carried out consistent and purposeful work to deepen regional economic cooperation within BSEC and to promote integration in the fields of transport, energy, digitalization, and trade. Azerbaijan also chaired the BSEC Business Council and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), placing special emphasis on strengthening cooperation among the relevant institutions of member states within these frameworks.
