No:277/24, Press release on the working visit of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov to Croatia

On 27–29 June 2024, a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov, paid a working visit to Croatia to participate in the Dubrovnik Forum.
Within the framework of the visit, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov delivered a speech at the Forum’s panel titled “Leaders’ Panel. Connecting the Dots: Reliable Supply Chains and Maritime Security.” In his speech, Elnur Mammadov spoke about the large-scale energy projects implemented by our country over the past 30 years, as well as the development of transit opportunities.
Recalling that Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the Deputy Minister provided information on cooperation with foreign partners in the development and transmission of renewable energy, including the “Black Sea Submarine Cable” project.
During the visit, a number of bilateral meetings were also held. At the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, Frano Matušić, current issues on the bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Croatia were discussed, including the intensification of political dialogue, and the development of cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, transport, energy, culture, humanitarian affairs, demining, and others. In this regard, the necessity of utilizing the existing potential for further expansion of relations was emphasized.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov informed the other side about the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, efforts to advance the peace agenda, as well as the large-scale reconstruction and rebuilding works carried out in the liberated territories.
In addition, Elnur Mammadov also met with the Head of the Civil Protection Directorate of the Ministry of Interior of Croatia, Damir Trut. During the meeting, it was emphasized that Azerbaijan-Croatia relations are successfully developing in many areas, particularly in humanitarian demining, which is a priority for our country, and views were exchanged on future prospects for development in this field.
The importance of strengthening cooperation between specialized Croatian companies in the field of demining and ANAMA, as well as expanding the exchange of experience, was emphasized.
The Deputy Minister also gave an interview to Croatia’s state television channel HRT1.
