No:274/25, Press release on the election of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN Committee on Migrant Workers for the period 2026–2029

On 24 June 2025, within the framework of the 12th meeting of the States Parties to the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families held in the city of New York, the Republic of Azerbaijan was elected as a member of the UN Committee on Migrant Workers (CMW) for the period 2026–2029.
In the elections held in a competitive environment, candidates from 7 countries, along with Azerbaijan, competed for the vacant seats. The representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan was elected to the Committee by receiving the highest number of votes among all candidates in the first round of voting.
The UN Committee on Migrant Workers consists of 14 independent experts who monitor the implementation of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.
In addition to this Committee, the Republic of Azerbaijan is also represented in other UN human rights treaty bodies, including the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
