No:246/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Marek Prawda

On 5 June 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the State Secretary (Deputy Minister) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Marek Prawda.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on cooperation issues between Azerbaijan and Poland, as well as on the current regional situation in the post-conflict period.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that such visits, as well as the mechanism of political consultations, play an important role in the development of partnership relations between the two countries, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investments, energy security, connectivity, education and humanitarian sphere.

 

It was noted that increasing the trade turnover between the two countries in proportion to the existing potential in this field, as well as the importance of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Poland in terms of discussing prospects in the economic and trade sphere.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, providing the other side with detailed information on the work carried out and future plans within the framework of our chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), brought to attention that there are additional opportunities for cooperation with the Polish side in combating climate change within the framework of our chairmanship.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, speaking about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, the work carried out in the field of combating the mine threat, and the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, brought to attention that there are favorable conditions for peacebuilding in the region.

 

During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

 

Subsequently, consultations on the Azerbaijan–Poland strategic partnership were held with the participation of the delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Fariz Rzayev, and the delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Poland.

 

During the consultations, topics of cooperation between the two countries within bilateral, regional and international organizations frameworks were discussed.
