The “Computer Laboratory for Inclusive Education” established in 2015 by the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) at the University of Jordan in Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, intended for students with physical disabilities, particularly the blind and visually impaired, has been fully renovated and equipped with new-generation specialized equipment.
The opening ceremony of the laboratory, held on 29 May of this year, was attended by the Head of AIDA Elmeddin Mehdiyev, the Ambassador of our country to Jordan Eldar Salimov, Vice President of the University of Jordan Professor Ziad Hawamdeh, and Dean of the Department for Student Affairs Shayab Shawfan, as well as the university’s academic staff and students.
At the ceremony, which began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Jordan, the university leadership expressed gratitude, emphasizing the importance of the support provided by Azerbaijan for the educational institution, noting that approximately one percent of the fifty-five thousand students studying at the university have physical disabilities, and highlighting that this project contributes to relations between the two states. Ambassador E. Salimov noted that all parties demonstrated exemplary cooperation in the implementation of the project and that this laboratory would become one of the symbols of friendship between our peoples and states.
The Head of AIDA E. Mehdiyev stated that the developing relations of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Jordan are based on the friendly relations between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan, and noted that the opening of the renovated laboratory with the support of AIDA is dedicated to the independence days of both countries celebrated on 25 and 28 May.
The project, aimed at supporting inclusive education, will provide students with physical disabilities studying at the University of Jordan with access to modern educational tools and resources and will enable them to develop their potential.
