No:204/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jama

On 4 May 2024, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jama, within the framework of his working visit to the Republic of The Gambia.
During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation within international organizations, particularly within the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The importance of continuing mutual support for candidacies and initiatives within international organizations was emphasized.
During the meeting, the Minister brought to the attention of the other side that during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, it spared no efforts to promote the interests of African countries on international platforms and to develop its relations with African countries.
The sides noted that there is significant potential for the development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, alternative energy, as well as partnership in the field of education and humanitarian sphere. It was stated that the participation of students from Somalia in the scholarship program established by our country for the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is commendable.
At the same time, it was emphasized that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by our country this year, creates favorable opportunities for cooperation.
During the meeting, other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
