On 1 May 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk, who was visiting Azerbaijan to participate in the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.
During the meeting, current issues on the agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, as well as regional and international security matters of mutual interest, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the contribution of the existing close contacts between Azerbaijan and Ukraine to cooperation, noting that relations between members of parliament also play an important role in the development of the partnership.
It was emphasized that the consistent demonstration of support for the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty, which underpin bilateral relations, across all platforms is commendable.
The importance of the mechanism of political consultations for further development of relations between the two countries was underlined.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information to the Ukrainian side on the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as on regional peace and reconstruction efforts.
The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s consistent adherence to the norms of international law, particularly the principle of territorial integrity, as well as for the humanitarian assistance provided. Confidence was expressed in the continued development of the strategic partnership.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
