No:177/26, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Upali Pannilage

On 20 April 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Upali Pannilage in the city of Bangkok within the framework of the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
During the meeting, the current state of relations based on cooperation and mutual respect between Azerbaijan and Sri Lanka was highly appreciated. Along with expanding political dialogue, existing opportunities for developing cooperation in various fields were reviewed.
Issues of strengthening economic cooperation, increasing trade turnover, and cooperation in the field of education were discussed. It was emphasized that more effective use of the existing potential in the field of tourism could have a positive impact on the expansion of cooperation in other directions.
During the meeting, the Sri Lankan side expressed its gratitude for the provision of humanitarian assistance to those affected as a result of the natural disaster that occurred in Sri Lanka.
At the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
