No:177/25, Press release on the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Republic of North Macedonia Zoran Dimitrovski

On 1 May 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Republic of North Macedonia Zoran Dimitrovski.
During the meeting, issues on the existing bilateral and multilateral agenda between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia, as well as regional and global developments, were discussed.
Satisfaction was expressed with the increasing dynamism of high-level visits and contacts between the two countries in recent times, and the importance of the political consultations mechanism between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in maintaining and developing interstate dialogue was noted.
Cooperation opportunities in the fields of economy and trade were discussed, and it was emphasized that there are broad prospects for the development of partnership in both traditional and renewable energy sectors. The inclusion of North Macedonia among the countries supplied with Azerbaijani natural gas was recalled with satisfaction.
The importance of promoting exchanges in the humanitarian sphere, including education, culture and tourism, in order to strengthen ties between the peoples and add value to interstate relations, was highlighted.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the counterpart in detail about the situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the progress of the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process and the factors hindering this process. It was emphasized that, in order to sign a final peace agreement between the sides, it is necessary to eliminate territorial claims against Azerbaijan in Armenia’s constitution and to abolish institutions such as the Minsk Group, which have already lost their relevance.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
On the same day, the first round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of North Macedonia was held. The consultations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev from the Azerbaijani side and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Zoran Dimitrovski from the North Macedonian side.
