No:172/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Kairat Sarybay

On 17 April 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Kairat Sarybay.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the possible priorities and plans of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of CICA for 2024–2026, as well as ongoing activities within the organization and future prospects.
Secretary General Kairat Sarybay noted with satisfaction that Azerbaijan has always actively participated within CICA and extended his sincere congratulations on Azerbaijan’s election as Chair. Highlighting that issues such as transport connectivity and the environment are currently among the most relevant topics for CICA, K. Sarybay emphasized that Azerbaijan stands out with its constructive position in this regard.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the transformation of CICA, orienting the organization’s activities towards issues of mutual interest and relevance, preparations for the Ministerial meeting to be held under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship and the upcoming Summit, opportunities for cooperation within the framework of COP29, as well as regional issues.
