No:147/26,  Press release on the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev

On 8 April 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.

The tête-à-tête meeting between the ministers was later continued in an expanded format with the participation of delegations from both sides.

During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the level of strategic relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, and a comprehensive discussion was held on issues arising from these relations, as well as on the regional situation.

It was emphasized that the dynamic of high-level mutual visits has made an important contribution to the development of bilateral relations.

It was noted that cooperation between the two countries has intensified in recent years, evolving into a multifaceted partnership covering areas such as economy, trade, energy, industry, transport and logistics, digitalization and technology, agriculture, tourism, cultural, humanitarian, and educational fields.

Mutual investments, including the establishment of an investment fund worth 300 million US dollars, were highlighted as an important direction for the development of economic cooperation.

It was particularly emphasized that the existing potential for increasing bilateral trade turnover, implementing joint projects in the non-oil sector, and strengthening regional connectivity creates broad opportunities for the further development of cooperation.


The strategic importance of cooperation within the Middle Corridor was underlined, noting that this route contributes to increased cargo transportation between Europe and Asia, and enhancing transit potential remains a key priority.

An exchange of views was held on the development of intensive dialogue with the Central Asia region, including cooperation within the C6 format.

At the same time, prospects for expanding cooperation within international and regional platforms, particularly the Organization of Turkic States and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, were discussed, with a focus on strengthening mutual support mechanisms within these platforms.

The sides expressed serious concern over tensions in the Middle East and emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts exclusively through diplomatic means. The ceasefire reached between Iran and the United States was welcomed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed his counterpart on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as on rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the liberated territories and the return of former internally displaced persons.

Gratitude was expressed for the Kurmangazy Children’s Creativity Center, built in the liberated city of Fuzuli with the support of the Kazakh side.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
