On 15 March 2024, the 9th trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye was held in the city of Baku.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov delivered an opening speech at the event.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov brought to attention that the existing regional cooperation between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye, which is based on historical neighborhood and friendly relations, is grounded on fundamental principles of international law such as territorial integrity and sovereignty.

It was noted that in this direction, the existing high-level dialogue between the three countries, inter-parliamentary relations, as well as contacts between various state institutions contribute to cooperation within the framework of regional and international platforms.

Satisfaction was expressed with the existence of a mutually beneficial cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye in the fields of economy, trade, investment, energy security, transport and communications, agriculture, efficient management of water resources, high technologies, tourism, humanitarian and other areas.

Taking into account the alternative energy, as well as transport and communication potential of the region, the importance of continuing successful energy projects connecting the Caspian and Black Sea basins with initiatives in the fields of connectivity and green energy was emphasized.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information on the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, demining activities, as well as the normalization and peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, bringing to attention that a historic opportunity for peace has emerged in the region following the liberation of Azerbaijani territories from Armenia’s occupation, as well as the full restoration of our sovereignty in all our territories, emphasized the importance of refraining from steps by the international community that encourage Armenia towards revanchist rhetoric, as well as supporting direct bilateral negotiations within the framework of the normalization process.

At the meeting, issues arising from the existing multifaceted cooperation agenda between the three countries, the prospects of regional cooperation, and other bilateral and multilateral issues were discussed.

At the end, the Baku Declaration on the outcomes of the trilateral meeting was signed, and the Ministers delivered statements within the framework of the organized press conference.
