No:105/26, Press release on the telephone conversation of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali

On 9 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, made a phone call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the phone call, discussions were held on the military escalation in the Middle East, as well as on the drone attack carried out by Iran against our country.
It was emphasized that such actions are directed against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and create risks to stability in the region, and the Somali side strongly condemned these attacks. The sides noted the importance of respecting the norms and principles of international law, as well as preventing further escalation of tensions for regional and global security.
During the phone call, an exchange of views was also held on the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Somalia, including political dialogue, cooperation within the framework of international organizations, and other issues of mutual interest.
Within this framework, the importance of Somalia’s role as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council was noted.
