On 8 March, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Ahmed Attaf, held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.
During the phone call, the sides exchanged views on regional and international security issues, as well as on the drone attacks carried out by Iran against the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani side emphasized that such attacks are an unacceptable act against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and provided information on the measures taken in connection with the current situation.
Minister Ahmed Attaf expressed his concern over the current situation, stated that the escalation of tensions is unacceptable, and noted the importance of resolving issues on the basis of the norms and principles of international law, through dialogue and diplomatic means. The Algerian Minister expressed his solidarity with Azerbaijan.
During the phone call, the sides also discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Algeria.
