No:099/24, Press release on the consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary

On 4 March 2024, the first consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary were held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

 

During the consultations, the Azerbaijani delegation was led by the Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Emil Safarov, while the Hungarian delegation was led by the Director of the Consular and Citizenship Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Balázs Farkas.

 

The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Hungary, Tahir Taghizadeh, as well as a representative of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

During the consular consultations, the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the consular field with Hungary, an important partner country for Azerbaijan, were reviewed, including the signing of new bilateral documents in this area and opportunities for the digitalization of consular services.

 

The sides exchanged information on recent innovations implemented in the consular field and emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Hungary and Azerbaijan in the areas of education, migration, and other fields, as well as taking necessary measures to protect the rights and obligations of citizens for this purpose.

 

The sides reached an agreement to hold the next round of consular consultations in 2025 in Baku.
