On March 7, 2026, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, held a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.
During the phone call, the issues arising from the drone attacks carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information to the other side about the drone attacks. It was stated that this attack against the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a violation of the norms and principles of international law and serves to increase tension in the region.
It was brought to attention that Iran is required to provide an explanation regarding the attack within a short period of time.
The Turkmenistan Minister expressed concern over the current situation.
The ministers also exchanged views on other matters of mutual interest.
