On 2 March 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
During the meeting, issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Holy See, as well as the current regional situation, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the intensive nature of visits and meetings between the two countries contributes to the development of relations. It was particularly emphasized that the growing contacts following the establishment of Azerbaijan’s Embassy to the Holy See are commendable and play an important role in advancing cooperation and implementing joint projects in political, cultural, humanitarian, and other fields.
It was noted that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in Azerbaijan this year, creates additional opportunities for cooperation.
The other side was also informed about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as the latest developments in the normalization and peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
