No:044/25, Press release on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates

On 11 February 2025, the third meeting of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates was held in the city of Abu Dhabi.
The political consultations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev from the Azerbaijani side, and by Assistant Minister for Political Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Ms. Lana Zaki Nusseibeh from the UAE side.
During the consultations, a broad exchange of views was held on the current state and future prospects of bilateral political, economic, energy and humanitarian relations. Opportunities for expanding mutual cooperation in a multilateral format, especially within the framework of international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, were discussed. Mutual coordination and cooperation within the framework of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP) were highly appreciated.
The sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The UAE side was provided with information on the current post-conflict situation in the region and the peace process, including the reconstruction and restoration works carried out in the liberated territories, the demining of our territories, and the return of our citizens to their native lands.
Within the framework of the visit, the Deputy Minister also visited the “TRENDS” Research and Advisory Center of the UAE. Head of the research department of the Center Mohammed Salem Alsalmi provided detailed information about the activities of the organization. Issues of developing cooperation between the Center and relevant research institutions of Azerbaijan were considered.
During his meeting with the leadership and researchers of the Center, Yalchin Rafiyev spoke about Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, its position on processes taking place at the regional and international levels, as well as the future prospects of Azerbaijan-UAE cooperation.
