No:034/25, Press release on the participation of Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev in the first meeting of the Committee on Reforms of the Economic Cooperation Organization

On 3 February 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev paid a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran to participate in the first meeting of the High-Level Committee on Reforms of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
The main purpose of holding the event was to increase the institutional effectiveness of the ECO and to conduct discussions on reforms and future directions of activity within the organization.
The activities of the said Committee will play a fundamental role in the discussion of the ECO’s strategic document for the next 10 years, which will be considered alongside other topics within the framework of the 17th ECO Summit to be held in our country this year.
During his speech at the event, Yalchin Rafiyev brought to attention our country’s position on reforms in the ECO and future prospects of cooperation in the region, and expressed his hope that the “ECO Vision 2035” document will contribute to the effective resolution of challenges in the region and the strengthening of cooperation.
Within the framework of the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev held meetings with the Secretary General of the ECO Asad M. Khan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Seyed Rasoul Mohajer as representatives of the host country of the ECO, as well as counterparts from member states, and conducted consultations on multilateral cooperation.
